BlindSpots for Zoom

Last updated 20 August 2026

BlindSpots runs interviews in the browser and checks that the person attending is the candidate you invited. This page covers adding the app to your Zoom account, running an interview with it, and removing it.

Before you start

1. Adding the app

  1. Open the app listing Go to the BlindSpots page on the Zoom App Marketplace, or open the installation link we sent you.
  2. Select Add Zoom asks you to sign in if you are not already.
  3. Review what the app is asking for Zoom lists the permissions on this screen. What each one is used for is set out below.
  4. Select Authorize You are returned to BlindSpots and shown a confirmation that your account is connected. Nothing else is required — there is no download and no configuration.

What the app asks for, and why

Your profile and account
Read once, immediately after you authorise, so we know which Zoom account connected. We record the account identifier, the email address on it, and the date.
Joining meetings
Lets a candidate join your interview through the BlindSpots page rather than the Zoom client.

We do not store your Zoom access token. It is used once, during authorisation, to read the account details above, and is then discarded. The app holds no standing credential to your Zoom account.

2. Using the app

Setting up an interview

  1. Book the meeting as you normally would Schedule it in Zoom. BlindSpots does not change how you create meetings.
  2. Register it with BlindSpots Open lab352.com, choose I'm running the interview, and paste the Zoom invitation link. Paste the whole link — the passcode travels inside it, so there is nothing separate to copy.
  3. Add the candidate's name and email The name is what you will see in the participant list.
  4. Send the candidate the link you are given It is a BlindSpots link, not the Zoom one. It works once, for that interview, for that candidate.

What the candidate does

  1. Opens the link Their name and meeting are already filled in. There is nothing to install and no Zoom account required.
  2. Allows camera and microphone The browser asks. The candidate can see, and end, that access at any time through the browser's own indicator.
  3. Selects Join interview The meeting opens in the page. You see them join in Zoom as you would any other participant.

During the interview

You run the interview in Zoom exactly as usual. BlindSpots works in the candidate's browser alongside it, and raises a flag if it detects a hidden AI assistant, an invisible overlay, or a second person standing in for the candidate.

Candidates are told at the start of the session what is being captured and why. Nothing is recorded before the browser has asked for permission and the candidate has granted it.

3. Removing the app

  1. Sign in to the Zoom App Marketplace Go to marketplace.zoom.us.
  2. Open Manage → Added Apps Or search for BlindSpots and open its listing.
  3. Select the BlindSpots app It appears under your installed apps.
  4. Select Remove Confirm when Zoom asks.

What happens when you remove it

Zoom notifies us the moment you confirm, and we delete the record of your authorisation — the account identifier, email address and connection date listed above. That happens automatically and needs nothing from you.

Interviews already conducted, and any recordings made during them, are governed by our Privacy Policy and are not deleted by removing the app. To request their deletion, write to us at support@lab352.com.

Removing the app stops new interviews being set up through it. Any BlindSpots links already sent to candidates will stop working.

If something goes wrong

The candidate cannot join

Check that the meeting has been started. A Zoom meeting that has not yet begun will refuse participants, which looks to the candidate like the link is broken.

The camera or microphone will not turn on

The browser is the authority here, not the page. Ask the candidate to check the permission indicator in the address bar, and to close any other application already using the camera.

The link says it is not valid

BlindSpots links are per-interview. A cancelled interview stops working immediately. Set up a new one and send the new link.

Anything else

Open the Technical details section at the bottom of the candidate's page and send us what it says — it is the fastest route to an answer. Full contact details are on the support page.
